The Two Castle, Kenilworth, June 2025.

Happy summer everyone! We hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather. This newsletter is to update you on our plans for the months ahead.

First of all, a very well done to every one of you on your runs this spring and autumn. Whether you’ve joined a 0 to 5km beginners’ course, entered a 5k park run, or run a double ultra, kudos to you. Running is hard, and it takes effort and determination.

Congratulations to those who are basking in the glory of an iconic distance. Runners have completed the Isle of Arran Double Ultra Marathon, the London Marathon, Brighton Marathon, Swansea Half Marathon, the Dublin marathon, and the Race to the King Ultra Marathon. We really are in awe of you.

Progress So Far

AAT&Ts finished our latest 0 to 5km course from the Memorial Park in Coventry, and we’re supporting several runners to keep improving. You can join us on Wednesday 9 July if you want to run a steady 5k in a small group on a flat route.

Sign up here: Run 5km 9 July 2025 or via the website, so we know to expect you.

And don’t forget, we’re meeting at Tesco Cannon Park in Coventry at 6:30pm.

We’ll let you know when we start another 0 to 5 km beginners’ course. Meanwhile, if you know anyone who wants to join one of our couch to 5ks, email us and let us know.

Our Plan for the Summer and Autumn

Marathon Training: Running In and Around Coventry

Marathon training Block One has been all about running 10 miles across different terrain to develop strength and confidence. There are two more Sunday runs in this block, on Sunday 13 and 20 July.

On 13 July, we will meet at Tesco car Park in Cannon Park, Coventry.

On 20 July, we will meet back at the usual place, the War Memorial Park car park. The Sunday run on 20 July will be timed so Dean can check you’re ok to proceed to Block Two. This is for safety reasons. We need to check your pace because if you’re not ready pace-wise, you’re more likely to get injured. And, we need the group to be a similar pace so we can stick together. To keep everyone safe, well, motivated, and engaged, we don’t want to become too spread out over the longer distances.

Please don’t worry at all. Any concerns about the timed run, have a chat with Dean.

After 20 July, you will get a break of four weeks. We do want you to factor in some rest and recovery during this period.

However, it’s important that you also maintain your training. We’ll provide a running plan and ask you to post your runs if you want to, so we can all encourage one another.

Dean will still be running in Coventry on Sundays and he will post in the WhatsApp group to let you know his planned distance. If you want to join him, respond with a thumbs up so he knows to look out for you. There’s no need to post a message in the group chat; message him directly if you have a question or you change your mind about joining him, so he doesn’t wait for you.

Then, Block Two Marathon Training starts on Sunday 24 August and runs until Sunday 28 September.

This is Block Two of our marathon training and it’s designed to build strength and endurance. We will take you from 12 miles to 20 during this period so nutrition and hydration will be even more important.

Also that week, the new running courses begin:

Tuesday runs start on Tuesday 19 August and run until Tuesday 30 September.

Wednesday runs start on Wednesday 20 August and run until Wednesday 1 October.

You can now sign up for these runs on the website. We'll be meeting at 6.30 in the car park in the Coventry War Memorial Park.

Finally, well done again for all you’ve achieved this past six months. I’m seeing real progress, driven by hard work, grit, and resilience, and I can see you transforming into strong long distance runners.

Keep going, you’ve got this!
